Surely it is more difficult because the solvent in one place . vaporize It also depends to some extent on the type of wood. Hardwoods do not take as deep as soft wood. Not certain what kind of spots you can certainly Wipe it dry, leave and double coat. But if you are able, I suggest trying a test in an area of the piece in some areas that are not so obvious and check it to fit what you have. My other thought might be, why not something like a cherry stain? DOC
