On a cold and snowy St. Patrick’s Day in Ontario, we discussed some news articles Chris brought to the table … nice fluffy stuff like distressingly high STD rates in teenage girls, studies that show that teenage drivers are responsible for a significant percentage of automobile fatalities, and survey results that indicate an increasing number of American citizens do not have any religious or faith-based affiliation.
These articles raised some interesting questions — what role should youth leaders take in educating their students on sexual health? Are we putting our students in danger if we let them drive to youth events? Are we doing ourselves any favours by watering down the name of Christianity?
Our EGADIdeas Game o’ the Week is “Where’s Waldo at the Mall”, a fun & easy way to involve members of your congregation in a youth event.

Ian Congrats to you and Dana. Going back to Honduras for your honeymoon? Wow some great topics this time, but you missed the whole Sex and Cars demographic! Maybe that too is a U.S. problem? Hopefully we will never assume that parents are taking responsibility in educating their kids.

Good point, Ken - we talked about cars, we talked about sex … but somehow forgot to talk about sex in cars (which may be how those teens are ending up with those STDs).

That’s pretty funny! I suppose at some point in time even “Christ Follower” will be stripped of its coolness cache and some new lingo will take ITS place.
Ian is back from his honeymoon and we recorded Episode 13 this week. Chris is the lucky technologically savvy one who gets to edit the podcasts and my understanding is it is rather time-consuming. If only we were independently wealthy and didn’t have to work!
